A Dream of Responsibility

Some years ago there was a family Christening, and after, we met to relax and chat. As often happened, one of my cousins was loaning out a baby for others to hold and he gave me a go. It was a moment when divergent lives touched briefly; the unusual weight of the small child on my shoulder, placed with one unfamiliar (and to remain so) with the life of a young family. It was only for a minute, yet two routes through life appeared in contrast at that moment, and only because of that unique experience.
